Congratulations on your successful doctorate, Kay Hönemann!

On December 9, 2025, Kay Hönemann successfully defended his dissertation at TU Dortmund University.
The photo captures a celebration in a brightly lit office or seminar room, featuring a group of five people, likely marking an academic milestone like a PhD defense. On the left side, the main focus is on a smiling man dressed in a black suit and black shirt. He is standing still while another man places a custom-made graduation cap (mortarboard) on his head. The man placing the hat wears a grey plaid blazer, blue jeans, and glasses. The hat itself is heavily decorated; the cylindrical part is covered in small printed photos, and the top features miniature objects, including a small palm tree and a frame. To the right of this pair, three onlookers observe the scene. Closest to the center is a man wearing a red plaid shirt, jeans, and glasses, who is also wearing a white face mask and has his hands clasped. Next to him stands a woman with curly hair and glasses, wearing a yellow and green patterned sweater; she holds a glass of sparkling wine and a brown bag. On the far right stands a tall man in a black t-shirt and grey trousers, also holding a glass of sparkling wine and smiling. In the immediate foreground, resting on a white table, is a white balloon with the text "Congrats Class of 2025" printed in a festive font. The background features a whiteboard, a wall-mounted air conditioning unit, and a display area featuring a large model of a construction crane or excavator (likely a Lego Technic model). The room has a standard drop ceiling with fluorescent lighting.

Participation in the 46th International Conference on Information Systems, Nashville, Tennessee, USA 2025

The Chair of Digital Transformation presented four papers at the 46th International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Nashville, TN, USA.
The image is a full-body group photo showing four people standing side-by-side facing the camera in front of a conference backdrop. The backdrop is white and features a banner at the top reading "ICIS 2025" in large dark blue letters, followed by "Nashville Tennessee December 14 – 17". The banner includes graphics of a guitar headstock on the left and an orange guitar neck on the right containing the hashtag #ICIS2025. Below the banner, the wall features a repeating step-and-repeat pattern of logos for "AIS" (Association for Information Systems) and "ICIS 2025". From left to right: The first person is a man with short blond hair and glasses, wearing a dark grey suit jacket, a white button-down shirt, dark trousers, and brown leather dress shoes. Next to him is a woman with long blond hair wearing a beige checked blazer, a white top, black trousers, and light-colored sneakers. Beside her stands a woman with long brown hair and glasses, wearing a vertically striped shirt in white and reddish-brown, a brown midi skirt, dark tights, and tan boots with fur trim. Participation in the 16th International Conference on Software Business (ICSOB 2025)

The professorship Digital Transformation participated in the 16th International Conference on Software Business in Stuttgart.
The image displays a group photo of three individuals standing side-by-side indoors, likely at an academic conference or symposium. They are positioned in front of a dark grey display board holding a research poster with the partially visible title "Fighting apps with apps: Analyzing tools for digital minimalism." The person on the left is a man with short, dark curly hair and glasses, wearing a dark grey sweater with thin horizontal stripes. In the center stands a woman with long, straight brown hair and glasses, dressed in a light-colored striped blouse and tan trousers. On the right stands a man with reddish-blond hair and glasses, wearing a dark button-down shirt and a white FFP2 face mask covering his nose and mouth. All three individuals are wearing blue lanyards with conference badges around their necks and are looking directly at the camera. Open House at TU Dortmund University – A Success

In early November, the Professorship Digital Transformation welcomed numerous visitors and immersed them in digital technologies.
The horizontal photograph depicts a scene in a spacious, well-lit foyer of a public building, likely a university or school due to the architecture. The floor features distinctive reddish-brown hexagonal tiling throughout. In the center foreground, two individuals are actively using white Virtual Reality headsets and holding controllers. They are standing inside a designated square area marked on the floor with purple tape. Inside this square, strips of green tape spell out the large letters "VR". The person closest to the viewer is wearing a dark jacket, light grey jeans, and carrying an olive-green backpack. To their left, the second VR user is dressed in dark clothing. A third man, dressed entirely in black, stands just outside the designated zone, watching the users. To the right of the image, a young man with light hair, wearing a white cable-knit sweater and dark grey jeans, leans against a high round table. He is looking down at papers or a device, with a coffee cup sitting on the table in front of him. The background reveals a glass-walled structure on the left, tables set up with laptops and yellow chairs, and a central circular pillar covered in flyers and notices. Further back, exposed brick walls, large windows letting in daylight, and other people sitting at tables are visible. The ceiling is white with recessed circular lights.

Recap of our DiWoDo workshop

As part of Digital Week Dortmund (DiWoDo), we held a workshop at the Chair of Digital Transformation at TU Dortmund University.
The landscape-format photo captures a presentation taking place in a bright, modern seminar or meeting room. On the right side of the image, a male presenter stands in profile, facing left towards the audience. He has short, curly brown hair, wears glasses, a blue blazer over a white shirt, and blue jeans. He is gesturing with both hands whilst holding a presentation clicker in his right hand. Behind him is a large digital flat-screen display mounted on a rolling stand. The slide being presented features the green headline "Virtuelle Gärten – Einsatzmöglichkeiten" (Virtual Gardens – Application Possibilities) and shows the logo of TU Dortmund in the top right corner. The slide content is divided into four quadrants displaying images and graphics related to Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) applications on smartphones and computer monitors. On the left side of the image, the audience is seated at a configuration of white tables. In the immediate foreground, with their back to the camera, is the head of a person with reddish-brown hair tied in a bun, wearing a black sweater. Further back sits a man with grey-flecked hair and a beard, wearing a grey hoodie, who is looking attentively at the speaker. A glass water carafe and several glasses are placed on the table in front of him. In the background on the far left, another man wearing glasses and a blue shirt is seated on a dark grey sofa. The room is functionally furnished: in the background, a white shelving unit holding silver cases and yellow stacking bins is visible, alongside a large green houseplant (Monstera) in the corner. Framed pictures hang on the white walls, and long fluorescent light fixtures are mounted on the ceiling.
