Publication on Algorithmic Management in Traditional Organizations in BISE Journal

The professorship Digital Transformation published a new study on the impact of Algorithmic Management in traditional organizations.
The image presents a first-person perspective inside a modern, high-tech manufacturing facility. In the sharp foreground, a pair of hands wearing grey, textured protective gloves holds a black tablet computer. The tablet screen displays a detailed analytics dashboard featuring various data visualizations in shades of blue and grey, including pie charts, bar graphs, line charts, and percentage indicators, suggesting real-time monitoring of production metrics. In the slightly out-of-focus mid-ground, two male workers are collaborating at a stationary machine control panel equipped with a monitor. The worker on the left has his back to the viewer, wears a dark blue work shirt, and is holding a laptop. Facing him in profile is a second worker wearing a high-visibility yellow safety vest over a blue shirt; he is gesturing towards the control screen as if analyzing data. The background is filled with large yellow industrial robotic arms engaged in assembly work on metal frames or car chassis along a production line.

Welcome to the team!

Since January 15, 2026, Oliver Dinand has been supporting our team as a Research Assistant at the Professorship Digital Transformation
The image displays a professional portrait of a young man positioned in front of a light grey, textured concrete wall. He has a fair complexion, dark brown eyes, and dark brown hair that is faded on the sides and styled with a slight wave on top. He sports a neatly trimmed beard concentrating around the mouth and chin, with light stubble on his cheeks. The man is wearing a crisp white button-down shirt with the collar open at the top, creating a smart-casual look. His torso is angled slightly to his right, while his face is turned directly toward the camera. He maintains direct eye contact with the viewer, offering a subtle, friendly, and relaxed smile with closed lips.

Publication of a Study on Power Contestation and Regulation in Digital Platform Ecosystems

The professorship Digital Transformation published a study on the impact of the EU Digital Markets Act on power dynamics in platform ecosystems.
An isometric vector illustration rendered in monochromatic shades of blue and grey, depicting themes of digital infrastructure and governance. At the top center, the flag of the European Union is clearly displayed with its circle of twelve yellow stars on a blue field. Beneath the flag sits a stylized, complex geometric structure resting on a circular, tiered base. This structure features a central cube surrounded by smaller rectangular blocks and connecting lines, resembling a digital platform, server architecture, or a circuit board. Floating around the structure are small spheres and lines indicating connectivity. In the background, stylized white clouds float above a faint, minimalist city skyline silhouette on the horizon. The image utilizes a flat design aesthetic to symbolize technology under European oversight.

Congratulations on your successful doctorate, Kay Hönemann!

On December 9, 2025, Kay Hönemann (WMA at the professorship Digital Transformation) successfully defended his dissertation at TU Dortmund University.
The photo captures a celebration in a brightly lit office or seminar room, featuring a group of five people, likely marking an academic milestone like a PhD defense. On the left side, the main focus is on a smiling man dressed in a black suit and black shirt. He is standing still while another man places a custom-made graduation cap (mortarboard) on his head. The man placing the hat wears a grey plaid blazer, blue jeans, and glasses. The hat itself is heavily decorated; the cylindrical part is covered in small printed photos, and the top features miniature objects, including a small palm tree and a frame. To the right of this pair, three onlookers observe the scene. Closest to the center is a man wearing a red plaid shirt, jeans, and glasses, who is also wearing a white face mask and has his hands clasped. Next to him stands a woman with curly hair and glasses, wearing a yellow and green patterned sweater; she holds a glass of sparkling wine and a brown bag. On the far right stands a tall man in a black t-shirt and grey trousers, also holding a glass of sparkling wine and smiling. In the immediate foreground, resting on a white table, is a white balloon with the text "Congrats Class of 2025" printed in a festive font. The background features a whiteboard, a wall-mounted air conditioning unit, and a display area featuring a large model of a construction crane or excavator (likely a Lego Technic model). The room has a standard drop ceiling with fluorescent lighting.

Participation in the 46th International Conference on Information Systems, Nashville, Tennessee, USA 2025

The professorship Digital Transformation presented four papers at the 46th International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Nashville, TN, USA.
The image is a full-body group photo showing four people standing side-by-side facing the camera in front of a conference backdrop. The backdrop is white and features a banner at the top reading "ICIS 2025" in large dark blue letters, followed by "Nashville Tennessee December 14 – 17". The banner includes graphics of a guitar headstock on the left and an orange guitar neck on the right containing the hashtag #ICIS2025. Below the banner, the wall features a repeating step-and-repeat pattern of logos for "AIS" (Association for Information Systems) and "ICIS 2025". From left to right: The first person is a man with short blond hair and glasses, wearing a dark grey suit jacket, a white button-down shirt, dark trousers, and brown leather dress shoes. Next to him is a woman with long blond hair wearing a beige checked blazer, a white top, black trousers, and light-colored sneakers. Beside her stands a woman with long brown hair and glasses, wearing a vertically striped shirt in white and reddish-brown, a brown midi skirt, dark tights, and tan boots with fur trim. On the far right is a man with short hair and glasses wearing a white face mask. He is dressed in a blue checkered button-down shirt, dark jeans, and brown boots. All four individuals are wearing conference name badges on lanyards around their necks. They are standing on a carpet patterned with large, abstract leaf shapes in shades of blue and green.
